Set up Permarix in under 15 minutes

Free covers the full core system. Pro adds post-type targeting, per-page layout overrides, a layout builder, approval notifications, and a role editor, all installed and configured for you. New to roles? Follow the steps in order.

1 - Install Free from WordPress.org

No license key. No setup fee for Free.

  1. In WP admin go to Plugins - Add New and search Permarix, then Install and Activate. Or upload the permarix folder to /wp-content/plugins/.
  2. Open Permarix in the admin menu to configure protection, roles, and the locked card design.
  3. Create one test page, lock it with a rule below, then visit it logged out to see the login card.

2 - Lock content with rules

Rules decide who sees what, and what visitors see instead.

  1. Go to Permarix Rules - Add New. Give it a clear name like Members Only Guides.
  2. Choose required roles, for example Member or Student. Visitors without those roles will be locked out.
  3. Pick an action: show a message, redirect to another page, or show the login card.
  4. Scope it to specific pages or the whole site, then Publish.
  5. Control the Login, Register, and Forgot tabs globally and per rule. Hide any tab you do not need.

3 - Moderate new registrations

Keep spam accounts out with an approval queue.

  1. In Permarix settings turn on moderation. New users stay pending until you approve or reject them.
  2. Review pending users in the approval list. Approved users can then sign in with the right role.
  3. Pro adds one-click approval notifications so your team is alerted fast. We set this up for you.

4 - Per-post control

Override rules on single posts or pages.

  1. Edit any post or page.
  2. Find the Permarix box. Turn protection on or off for that item.
  3. Pick which roles can see it. This beats the global rule for that item only.

5 - Roles without the mess

Create only the roles you need.

  1. Open the Role Manager in Permarix settings.
  2. Create a custom role, for example Client or Alumni.
  3. Apply it to users and use it inside rules and per-post overrides.
  4. Pro adds a full role editor for fine control. We configure it on your site.

6 - Design the locked card

The card inherits your theme. Tune it to match.

  1. Open the live form designer and preview the locked card.
  2. Pick a layout from the built-in library.
  3. Adjust colors, spacing, text labels, login fields, identifier format, and custom registration fields.
  4. Pro adds per-page layout overrides and a custom layout builder for special pages.

FAQ from site owners

Does it work with any theme?

Yes. The locked card is rendered by the plugin and inherits your theme styles. Every color, spacing, and label can be adjusted, and Pro setups are matched to your theme by hand.

Can I protect by user role?

Yes. Each rule and each per-post override can require one or more roles.

What happens to new registrations?

If moderation is on, new users stay pending until you approve or reject them. Pro adds fast approval notifications.

How do updates work?

Yearly includes 30 day support with unlimited updates. Lifetime includes priority re-setup once, then paid care, with unlimited updates. We keep your rules update-safe.
